Our Pastor

GEDC0341I am completely blessed to be the pastor of Hotchkiss First Baptist Church (HFBC).  This is a friendly, loving church with a focus on glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ, reaching the lost with the Gospel, and edifying and encouraging the believers.  The first thing you will notice when you visit our church is the genuine love and friendliness of our church family.  We’d love for you to join us and look forward to having you as our guest.  If there is anything that I can do for you, please email me your phone number and address and I will call to set up an appointment to visit you.   I can be contacted via email to or see the “Contact Us” page for more information on how to contact and find us.

If you have a specific prayer request you’d like us to pray about, you can email them to .

If you have questions or concerns about where you will spend eternity, see our page titled “The Free Gift”.  We hope you enjoy visiting our site and hope to see you soon!

If you are visiting our web page for the first time, please take a look at the page titled “Free Gift”.  It’s by far the most important page on this website!

All the way from England my eyes are on this site. Amazed and grateful for what the Lord is doing through you at Hotchkiss B.C. . Hope you have a time of blessing with the Myers family.

If I could choose a very special time to be with you, it would have to be Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. I remember well the first one that I attended in England with Pastor Jake officiating, it was so moving and really awesome in the true sense of the word. Don’t change a thing on that night.

Will continue to pray for you all

I am praising the Lord for souls being saved at Hotchkiss, so thankful too that God willed the Defield family to be in your midst. I pray for you all at Hotchkiss FBCevery day.

“O ye of little faith” – That applies to me!!!! I pray for blessing at HFBC every day, then am completely amazed at what the Lord is doing in your midst. I just can’t wait to meet up with you all very soon. Through the DVD’s which Liesl sends I feel I have met most of you already.

One highlight will be to hear sound doctrine preached again from my Pastor who was ‘kidnapped’ a year or so ago. My loss is your gain.

It was a blessing to see 5 young people following the Lord’s command entering the waters of baptism, particularly thrilled to see 3 beautiful young ladies whom I have met somewhere before……

You are always in my prayers.
    Christian love from Ruth

Thanks for your prayers Ruth! You’ve always been my favorite “prayer warrior”. God is really doing a wonderful work here. Sunday we had 71 in the Worship service with 10 first-time visitors. We’ve been studying evangelism (Roman’s Road) and now The Way of the Master program and God is really blessing! Your prayers are truly appreciated and we’d ask you to continue as God continues to work here in the small town of Hotchkiss! Much love, Pastor Jake

Finally on USA soil and realising that on 18th April God-willing, I shall be worshiping with you all in HFBC.

Am so looking forward to meeting up once again with dear friends who left me some while back (seems like years), still amazed at what God is doing in your midst, but ever thankful for answers to prayers. Continue growing in the fear and knowledge of Jesus Christ, I hope to grow spiritually with you all very soon.

We are looking foward to having you with us also. FBCH has been praying for you, your trip to the States, and your visit here faithfully. I’m so very thankful that God has allowed you this opportunity and we’re just praising Him as we’ll be together once again worshipping the Lord in Spirit and Truth! See you in 11 days! Pj

    Dear Hotchkiss family,

I have now been – and gone! Back in UK since Saturday afternoon and thankfully no signs of jetlag. What a blessing you all were, I enjoyed my time with you so much, just sorry it had to come to an end. I shall still follow your movements by DVD (Hint to Liesl).

Want to thank you all again for the wonderful way you accepted me in your community and your Church family, you were all so kind and welcoming. A special thank you to Chuck for his gift of First Baptist Church replica, this is now taking pride of place in my living room, thus reminding me to pray for you.

Another surprise – a big surprise – was being tapped on the shoulder in ???? somewhere in Georgia by Joey. We were strawberry picking and we had this Divine appointment with her. Surely this was God’s will that she should be there on the same day and at the same time as we all. It was good for me to be able to give her yet another hug.

A very big thankyou to Pastor Jake and family for accommodating me for 10 days, the view I looked out on each day made we realise just how wonderful Heaven will be, for this was as near to it as I will be on this earth, although I thought I was going to reach there very soon on one or two of the outings – obviously my home was not ready yet.

I must thank all your young folk too for the laughs we shared, sorry they did not succeed in making me a Redneck but I do have my limits, also did not know whether my Medical Insurance would cover injuries such as those obtained by wrestling with calves etc.

I shall continue to pray for you all as I hope you will continue to pray for us here. Big decisions to be made which can only be decided by the Lord, am waiting for His plan to be revealed.

Again I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I pray for the Richest of God’s blessings on you all.

Praise God for the calling on Pastor Jake’s life to boldly preach God’s word. I say ‘PREACH IT!”
